A question that comes up again and again, especially among Polaroid beginners, is the difference between i-Type and 600 film. The answer is simple.

The battery makes the difference

While the i-Type film was developed especially for the new Polaroid models, the 600 film is intended for the vintage models of the Polaroid 600 series (e.g. LM630, Sun660, …). Unlike the Polaroid Now or OneStep Plus, these models do not have a built-in battery, so the 600 film contains the battery in the cartridge. The picture format of both films is the same with 3.1 x 3.1 inches (visible image without border).

Because of the built-in battery, the new Polaroid Originals models can be used with 600 film without any problems (the Polaroid Lab photo printer can also use both films). This is not possible vice versa. However, operating a new Polaroid with 600 film is unprofitable due to the higher price of the film,
