The US scientist Edwin Land, who founded Polaroid Corporation, is credited with the creation of the modern instant camera, and launched the first instant camera in 1947. When his three year old daughter asked him to see the photographs he had taken of her on Christmas day, he came across the idea for creating an instant picture.. He correctly assumed that other people would like the same immediate pleasure, and within just a handful of years, more than four thousand dealers were marketing his instant cameras.
