The invention of the modern instant camera is credited to American scientist Edwin Land who founded Polaroid Corporation and who introduced the first instant camera in 1947. When his three year old daughter wanted to see the snap shots he had taken of her on Xmas day, he came up with the idea for creating an instant picture.. He correctly thought that other people would like the same immediate pleasure, and within only a handful of years, in excess of four thousand dealers were marketing his instant cameras.
